Saturday, 1/28/12

Yesterday, I did a little Publix run, as I needed some things that I couldn't get at my Food Lion Extravaganza 50% off shopping expedition...hee hee!

I wasn't thrilled over the Publix ad this week. I did want to draw your attention to a couple of things, though. Springer Mountain Farms whole chickens were $1.69 per pound, I had coupons to save $1.50 off each one. (These chickens, while not saying they are organic, are considered all natural since they do not use growth hormones and other poisons). We split them in 1/2 and put then on the grill, with indirect heat. They're awesome. Bought 4 hormel corn beef hash, got 2 dozen eggs for free. The hash was only $2 ea, the eggs $1.89 each. Oscar Mayer Bologna was bogo, Billy loves it. Edy's Ice Creams were 2 for $7, I had a $1 off coupon, paid $3 each for those....Billy loves those too. Billy wanted ribs on the grill tomorrow, got those for $2.99 per pound. Anyway, Spent $81.15 for $114.53 in products. Not great, but not bad. Also needed some things for my cheese cakes for Sunday at our church Missions Desert night. That was my main reason for stopping.

2nd part of this story.....I went looking for my ribs this morning, so I could put them on to marinate....I couldn't find them anywhere! They spent 1/2 day and all night in my car! Gosh, I hate it when I do something that dumb! It's never anything non-perishable when you do that either!

Have a great weekend, we better enjoy it, it's supposed to turn cold again...yeah!

God Bless.....Rhonda Goff

Wednesday 1/25/12...Food Lion 50% off Day

I honestly feel this was well worth my time & patience...both stores I went to were jammed! I spent a total of $143.45 for $445.30 in goods. I used a total of $79.20 in coupons, a world record for me, I think. You had to be a bit careful, I will tell you because some of the things seemed to be more than they are normally...little price jacking going on I think! At any rate, I mostly bought things that I don't normally find on bogo anywhere and things we use ongoing all the time.

Paper goods were very scarce. Laundry detergent, I got large bottles of Whisk with my coupons for $2.54 each, which is not bad for Whisk. Purex with Zout for $2.00, the large one. Truvia sweetner....my all time favorite is normally $3.99 for the 40 ct. package. I got those for $1.11 each....I now have 10 of those and I won't be buying laundry soap for a year at least! Marzetti Cole Slaw Dressing, which is normally $3.99 (and is a staple at our house for Potato Salad as well), were $1.25 I think. I am very pleased with the day, I'm tired, but pleased. I would suggest if you plan on going...they are closing at 6:00 PM nightly, go tomorrow with your coupons in hand....EARLY and with much patience! My friend, Launa, did very well too.

Funny anecdote....I passed a lady and her husband in a couple of different aisles and finally the man looked over at me (his wife had a huge basket, he was pushing it, and no coupons)...he looked over at me with my two big notebooks full of coupons and my full basket and he said..."you're having a ball, aren't you?" I had to laugh and I said is it that obvious? He said yes, I can tell you are in your element. ha too funny, I bet my eyes were glazed over too! ha ha. My friend, Tammy said I had a "Coupon Buzz"...ha!

Have a good evening and God Bless.

Monday 1/23/12

Just left the Food Lion on 103rd, the one nearest Old Middleburg road....they are still at 25% off! They didn't know or wouldn't say when the 50% was coming, so we will just have to keep checking daily. This store still has a lot of stock to move, however at 25%...it looked to Launa and me as if they had upped some of their prices a bit??? When it hits 50%...they have a lot of personal care items, laundry soaps, paper goods, canned goods, mixes and frozen veggies....I am def going back. And they are taking coupons at 25% off, not sure if that will continue at 50%, we'll have to see, but still, at 50%, it's cheaper than we could get with coupons! I was able to pick up 2 packages (40 ct) of my Truvia sweetner for $1.99 each, I bought 2, the only 2 small ones they had. They have plenty of the 80 Count and the loose stuff....when it hits 50%, I am going back to clean up on that as well as a few other things that we use ongoing. So...let's not get our panties in a wad just yet, let's wait them out. They have a lot to move still. Let's keep each other updated if we hear or see they're at 50%.

This just in from our friend Karen at savingthefamilymoney....she and one of her people were both told that the 50% off will start on Wednesday morning....be there or be square!

Love you guys......keep your eyes and ears peeled. Rhonda

Sunday 1/22/12

Well, my paper man ripped me for 2 of my Red Plum inserts! I'm really getting tired of that and I got no Michaels or AC Moore or any of those! I'm thinking seriously about cancelling the whole works and taking my chances at the stores on Sunday. The coupons we did get didn't seem that great to me, am I just getting jaded??? haha

The sale ads did not impress me much either. I'll have to spend some time with them and see I guess. My plan for this week is to hit Food Lion after couponista meeting tomorrow with my coupon books in tow. It's my understanding that they are at 50% off. I love love the frozen vegetables at Food Lion. Paper goods would be a good thing to stock up on too if the prices are indeed 50% off and we're supposed to be able to use our coupons as well. I'll let you know how I do tomorrow.

FYI..I bought the Dishwasher Cleaner & disinfectant at Publix, it was on sale and we had coupons. Wow, my DW looks like brand new inside and smells great too! You might want to try it while it's on sale.

Okay, talk soon.

God Bless and have a great week! Rhonda

Thursday 1/19/11

Just a reminder or if you're new, check out on FB The Neighborhood Garden and online at Jaxorganic.com for your fresh organic fruits and vegetables. I love them, we get a bag weekly and I've never been disappointed. I've compared the prices with just going into Publix and pricing they're organic stuff compared to what's in my bag....Neighborhood Garden was quite a bit cheaper. Check them out.

I am heading to Publix tomorrow. Didn't see much I was too impressed with, but....I am participating in a Chile cook off at church on Sunday and need some things for that. I'll let you know if I spot anything crazy good. I may head to Walmart as well. I need a meat grinder, anyone have any recommendations?

I almost forgot, the letter I wrote to Smithfield about their products? Today I received in the mail (2) $2 off any smithfield products coupons. I also have a promise from our Organix dog food for some coupons. These letters/emails are paying off for me.

I have also heard that Food Lion is offering 25% over all closeout that next week will go to 50% off. I also heard that will take our coupons. Stop in and check them out. Could be worth our time!

God Bless Have a great weekend and happy shopping.....Rhonda Goff

Tuesday 1/17/12

I know I said I wasn't going to the drug stores this week....but I had to go to Petsmart for dog food today and had to pass right by Walgreens.

I ended up doing 3 deals at Walgreens.
Deal 1 Bought 4 Aleve 50 caplets for $3.99 each which came to $15.96, I used (2) $5 off 2 coupons, making my total owed $5.96, I got back $5 in Register Rewards....so in reality I got the 4 Aleves for .24 each. I saved $22.00 on this deal all told.

Deal 2 I bought 1 Angel Soft Bathroom tissue the 27 roll pack, was $10. I had a mfg coupon for $1 off and I used my $5 Register Reward from the first deal, making my toilet paper $4! Not bad....that comes to each roll costing .15 per roll! Now because I used a mfg coupon and a Register Reward (which Wags counts as a coupon), I had to by a filler item also. In the flyer they had a Wags coupon for a snickers bar for .59. Wags does not count their own coupons as coupons when you are counting up.I spent $4.59 and saved $6.40 on this deal. (no RR on this one)

Deal 3 This deal I did just because it was good and I needed these things. My Loreal mascara is dry! They had Loreal Voluminous Mascara for $5.99 (I've paid $7 to $8 for it sometimes), I had a Walgreens coupon for $1 off (in the monthly booklet) and a mfg coupon for $1 off, making it $3.99. There was a coupon in the Wags flyer for Softsoap liquid hand soap for .99 ...it is normally $2.79 each. I had mfg coupons for .40 off each one, bought 3 at .59 each! Not bad. This deal was $5.76 and saved $10.70. No register rewards on this one either. I had 4 items and 4 coupons, not counting the Wags ones so no filler needed on this one.

My total OOP was $16.31 for $55.41 in product. I call that a win!

I was also able to use 2 of my PetSupermarket coupons at PetSmart by doing 2 separate deals on my dog foods.

I love a day like this where you find everything on your list and your deals just flow like you knew what you were doing! Sometimes they don't! I must commend the lady at the front register at the Wags on Argyle, she is one of the best I've come across as far as being patient and knowledgeable.

Have a good week.....God Bless you in all your endeavors. Rg

Monday 1/16/12

Well, once again, I'm not shopping drug stores this week, I honestly didn't see anything I needed or thought was a great deal! As I was cutting and filing my coupons, I saw some things we might want to watch out for:

At Publix...
Bagel Bites, there is a Publix Coupon for bogo and a Target Coupon that if you buy 6, you get $5 off.
Deans Dip there is a Publix coupon for $1 off 1, and a mfg coup for $1 off 2.
Kraft various cheese, Publix coupon for $1 off 1 and mfg coupon for .55 off 2.
Cottenell Toilet Paper Publix coupon for $1 off 1 12 pk. and a mfg for .50 off 1 (not huge but it helps)
Kleenex tissues Publix coupon for $1 off 2 and mfg for .50 off 1

Publix or Target
Whisk, Target coupon for $1 off 1 75 oz and mfg for $1 off 1 (if your Publix accepts Target Coupons)
Brita Pitcher or Faucet mount, Target coupon for $5 off 1 (exp 1/28) and a mfg for $4 off 1.

These are just some things I noticed as I was filing mine away. I like to keep a small list of things to watch for.
Maybe this week, we will see some good deals at the grocery stores. They'll have to be real real good to lure me in!

P.S. This just in from Wildforwags...Walgreens has Aleve gelcaps 40-50 count for $3.79.
Buy 4 for $15.16. Use 2 of the $5 off 2 coupons making them $5.16 and get a RR for $5! Makes them .04 each! I
haven't done it myself, but you might want to stock up.

Have a great week and God Bless.....Rg

My results from Friday shop 1/13/12

First stop Walmart. They did not have the Sunbird Seasonings that I had bogo coupons for. I bought a Jenga game with my $3 off coupon for $5.88. Celestial Seasonings tea used $1 off 1, got those for $1.38 per box. Got a free Twix bar worth .74. Got the Sure Deodorants for .47 each. Scotchbrite Botanical wipes for $1.24 each, they were $2.48 each, but I printed a bogo coupon on line. The packages for Bic Cristal Pens, I made .3 on each of those. Of course bought some other things we needed. Spent 42.39 for $56.61 in goods. It's real hard to tell EXACTLY how you did at Walmart. Their receipts aren't real helpful. I figure I saved about $14.22 in coupons.

Winn Dixie next. First and foremost I bought 4 of the rump roasts, man are they nice, bogo. $83.12 worth of beef for $42.29. The Rotel tomatoes were $1, I printed coups for .20/1. Sara Lee Bread with no coupons was $1.24 per loaf. The Kraft Velveeta Skillet dinners were bogo at $2.99, had coupons for .50 off 1, they ended up at .99 each. Bought some other things we needed of course. Spent 72.58 for $123.66 in goods.

Publix next. Ricola throat drops were bogo at #1.79 each, had coups for $1.00/2, they cost me .39 each. Green Giant frozen boxed veggies were bogo for .99 each, buying 6 and my coups were .60 off 3, they ended up at .78 each. Dentastix for the pups were bogo, with coup $1 off 2, they were .79 each. Starkist White Albacore tuna in the packets were bogo, we had coups for .50 off 1, they ended up at $1.09 each. Smithfield bacon was 3 for $10 (full pounds), I only bought 2 and used my Publix coupon for $1 off 2 and my mfg coupon for $1 off each one, they ended up at $1.83 each. Got Bubba Turkey burgers used a publix coupon for $1 off, they were $7.79. The Kens Salad dressings were bogo. WE had coupons for $1 off each one, I bought 4 and also used a coupon for if you buy 3, you get one free. I ended up paying $1.74 for 4 of them, making them .43 each. This was a great deal too. The Centrum Pro Nutrients Omega 3 vitamins...I thought they were going to be $19.99, but when I got there they were only $12.49 each. Bought 2, used the Publix coupon for $5 off 2 and my $5 off each one. Are you ready? I ended up paying $4.99 each for those. The Disney gummie vitamins ended up with the Publix coup for $5 off 2, and the mfg coup for $1 off each one, I paid $2.49 for those. I found the the Sunbird Seasonings marked down to .50 per package at Publix, so with my bogo coupons, they were .25 each. I did so well, that I bought more cod to put on the grill! I know, but it's good for us and we love it. he he. All in all, I spent $116.04 for $194.47 in goods.

All told I spent $231.01 for $605.75 in product! Not too shabby. Needless to say, you guys are on your own next week, I've pretty much spent my budget for this month and it's only mid Jan. I honestly think we have plenty. I even have some things for the church food pantry! That's it for me gang. Have a great weekend and be savvy shoppers. God Bless....Rg

Thursday 1/12/12

Heads up...I've heard that Food Lions are all closing in our area. I am sorry for the loss of the stores and for the folks who will lose their jobs..but....let's keep our eyes and ears pealed for extra great deals at Food Lion prior to the close. I've tried to find out if they will be having huge sales. As of right now, their ad looks pretty normal. If anyone can ascertain whether they will be doing huge sales to get rid of their products, let us all know. Meanwhile, I plan to keep looking at their ads online and perhaps stopping in and just looking to see what's what. From what I heard, this is supposed to happen by the 30th of this month. I don't know if that's true in all cases, but keep eyes & ears open. Imagine a really great sale AND letting us use our coupons??? Great scenario, huh? We could sure help our stockpile and our Church Food Pantry or whoever you give your overage to. Just thought I'd give you the heads up so we can all benefit from any extra good sales.

Also, according to our friend at Savingthefamilymoney.com, Target is having a heck of a good sale on toys, if you are one who plans ahead for birthdays and Christmas. FYI.

P.S. I have been receiving all kinds of coupons in the mail from my emails to the different companies. I just received notification from Smithfield and Cumberland Gap hams that they will be forwarding me coupons soon! If you have time, you might want to do this too.

God Bless....Rg

Wednesday 1/11/12

I've been looking over the ads and there are a few things I think are worth going after. I've done up lists for 3 stores, Publix, Walmart & Winn Dixie. Since I probably won't get to do mine until Friday, I wanted to give you a heads up on a couple of things. Bear in mind, I've not done them yet myself, but I do know that we at least have the coupons to do them!

Walmart has the Sunbird Seasonings on sale and we have a bogo coupon. Suave Deodorant is .97, we have a coupon for .50 off making those .47. The Bic Cristal pens are .97, we have a coupon for $1 off any Bic Stationery product and they have bic White out for $1 which we can use the same coupons on. Scotch Brite disenfecting wipes are $2.48, we have a buy one get one coupon for those. Brawny paper towels are $1, on FB you can get a coupon for $1 off those. There are also several games on sale, which if you printed the coupons.com and smartsource coupons, you could print $3 off Jenga, $5 off Pictionary and $5 off catchphrase. Nice birthday or Christmas gifts.

Publix has Ricola Throat drops for bogo $1.79, we have coupons for $1 off 2, making those .79 for 2. Green Giant Frozen box veggies are bogo and we have coups for .60 off 3, making those .83 each if you buy 6. Starkist Albacore white tuna in water in the pouches are $3.19 for 2 bogo, we have coupons for .50 off each one making those $1.10 each. Also in the green flyer, there is a Publix coupon for $5 off 2 of the Disney vitamins and we have MFG coupons for $1 off each one, making those $2.40 something each. Also in the same flyer, there is a Centrum coupon for $5 off 2 of those. We've been wanting to try the Pro Nutrients Omega 3's, we also have $5 off each one mfg coupons. They are pricey at $19.49 each, but if you buy 2, use the Publix $5 off coupon and the 2 $5 off mfg coupons, they come out to $11.94 each.

Winn Dixie has Rotel tomatoes for $1 a can, I found on line coupons for .20 off each one. Kraft skillet dinners bogo and we have coups for $.50 off each one of those. Mainly what I am going here for is the Rump or Bottom Round roasts are bogo. Winn Dixie has very good beef roasts. I hope to get about 4 to put in the freezer. Airwick candles are also bogo at $5.99, we have coupons for $2 off 2 of them, making those about $1.50 each. Not too bad.

Okay, this is my plan for Friday. Let me know if you all find other things we may have missed. I will let you all know how I make out with this plan. Have a great rest of the week and get some deals!

God Bless.....Rg

Monday 1/9/12 Walgreens shop

Okay, I did 3 deals at Walgreens with my friend, Opal today.

Deal 1 Tylenol Precise pain patches for $5.99 - $2.00 Mfg Coupon=$3.99 got back $3 in Reg Rewards
2 Colgate 2oz total toothpastes 2 for $6 - $1.50 mfg coupons=$4.50 got back $4 in Reg Rewards
1 Syntha 6 meal replacer for $1.89 got back $1.89 in Rerwards
Total $10.38 got back $8.89 in Register Rewards

Deal 2
1 Bounty 8 roll pack was $7.99 coupon for $.25 off (big deal)=$7.74 got back $1 in Reg Rewards
2 Benefiber stick packs were $10 each had coups for $5 off=$15.00 got back $10 in Reg Rewards
2 candy bars .69 each
total $24.12 applied $8.89 from previous deal =$15.23 got back $11.00 RR
(I forgot that the RR at Wags count as coupons, so....I had to buy 2 candy bars for fillers..I haven't shopped Wags in a
while....could have used a couple of pairs of Knee hi's for .29 each)

Deal 3
1 Nexxus comb through hair spray was $12.99 had no coupon
1 candy bar filler .69
total $13.68 used my $11.00 RR spent $2.68

All told I spent $28.29 for $69.12 in goods Not too bad. My first deal basically paid for my paper towels, my 2nd deal paid for my hairspray. I know the hairspray is expensive, but....it's the best I ever found that is not stiff or sticky! There ya have it. And the good part is that I have no RR left to keep up with, I spent them as I went. I get very frustrated with myself when they expire and I haven't used them. This way, I don't worry about it!

Okay, get out there and get cha some deals! Remember (duh for me), Walgreens counts RR as coupons, so when you match up your item count with coupon count, make sure it's even counting RR you are using.

God Bless and happy shopping! Love, Rg P.s. Check out Southersavers.com for a list of coupon matchups at Target with a bunch of freebies. I haven't tried them, but it's worth a look see.

Sunday night 1/8/11

The coupons are nestled all snug in their books....sorry, I'm still in Christmas mode!

Wow, 4 inserts today, I didn't think I would get them all cut and put in the books, but I did! Whew. I've even done up a deal I want to try at Walgreens tomorrow after our couponista meeting. I'll let you know how it pans out. I plan on doing several of the FREE deals to pay for some things I need. One is paper towels. How in the heck did I get so low on TP and paper towels? Guess I had my mind on Christmas....

God Bless, I'll let you know how my Wags deal goes down.

Friday 1/6 shopping trip

Good news for those of you who were too sick to go out to the "after Christmas" sales! Big Lots still has tons of Christmas paper, bows, Christmas cards and all kinds of things for 50% off. I was able to get what I need for next year for 1/2 price! Yippee! We were also out of bath soap, Big Lots has 3 bars of Palmolive soap for $1, which makes them .33 each, you can't beat that price to get clean and it smells great too! I stocked up again. They also had good prices on body lotion, check them out, they don't take coupons, though.

Publix....I admit I splurged a bit! I got my 8 o'clock bags of coffee...16 of them...for $2.78 each, they are normally $6.81 each! Won't be buying coffee for a while! Prego sauce was $2.53 for 2 (bogo) and I had a Target Coupon for $1 off 2 of them, they ended up at .76 each. Nabisco Multigrain Saltines were bogo, had coup for $1 off 2, they were .99 each. The Rubbermaid easy find lid containers...small ones were $2.87 (with the 40% off) and I had coups for $1 off, making those $1.87 each. My Multigrain Cheerios ended up at $2 each for the big box...not great. Publix has boneless skinless chicken breast on sale and I bought 2 packages of that, had them grind it up for my dogs! Way cheaper than the ground turkey I normally buy for them. Here's the "splurge" part...they had some beautiful thick pieces of Cod that had just come off the truck...it's expensive and large Mayport Shrimp, fresh not frozen. Did I buy one or the other? Of course not, I bought both! The Cod will go on the grill blackened and the shrimp we will mix with some of our other chicken breast, and make fajitas on the grill with those items. Of course, that meant I needed to buy avacoados to make guacamoli for the fajitas and needed limes, flour tortillas and tartar sauce for the cod! See what happens to me? I go in with great intentions to ONLY Buy my coupon items, and look how I end up? My friend Vicki is so good at only buying her coupon items! She does way better than I do for sure, but you're stuck with me, okay? I also bought my $50 Shell gas card for $40! There's my gas for the month! I allow myself $50 per month for gas, that's it! I spent $181.90 for $291.29 in goods. Now remember, $40 of that was a gas card and almost $25 was fish! I saved $109.39 all told. I am okay with that.

Okay, that's my story and I'm sticken to it! Love you all, have a wonderful weekend, I'll be thinking about you when we make fajitas on the grill Saturday night! God bless.....Rhonda Goff

Friday 1/6/12

Okay, heading to Publix today, not too impressed with their sales for this week or Winn Dixie's for that matter. I am mainly going to Publix for eight o'clock coffee, which is bogo and I've rounded up enough coupons to buy 16 of those to put in the freezer....they keep great. They also have Prego sauce bogo...I'll get that for the Food Pantry at church, I have a Target coupon for $1 off 2 of those, which will make them .71 each. Nabisco Saltine crackers are bogo at $2.89 and there is a coupon on the Nabisco FB site for $1 off 2, making them .94 each. Need Multi grain cheerios, I'm out, they are $2.50, I have a coupon for $1 off 2, I hate to pay $2 per box, but I'm out! The ad says that all the Rubbermaid Food and beverage containers are 40% off...I am taking several coupons along just in case they are really discounted. I am also out of milk, coffee cream, body lotion and ground turkey for my dogs. We'll see how I do. Oh, I almost forgot, on the back of the Publix ad for this week is a coupon for a $50 gas card for $40! If I can get a Shell card, I can use it in conjunction with my .30 off per gallon from Winn Dixie!

Those of you who signed up with Zaycon foods....they are back with the ground beef and bacon again. Check them out. If you signed up, I'm sure you got the same email that I did, but I'm good on meat right now. I will tell you that the ground beef was excellent quality if you like it lean....which I do. It was more like chopped steak!

Okay, I'll get back to you on how I do today. Have a great weekend and God Bless. Rg

Tuesday 1/3/12

For those of you "Primetimers"/Senior citizens who are looking for something fun to do on Wednesday mornings...starting tomorrow, Jan. 4 at our Chick-fil-A at the Oakleaf Town Center from 8:30 A.M. -10:00 A.M., Chick Fil A will start hosting a Senior Citizens Breakfast. Guest Speakers, Free Coffee, Bingo-with prizes, Fun & Fellowship. Check it out before you go out to shop, or meet some friends there for breakfast.

I'm awaiting our sale ads to see if we have any worthwhile goodies to pick up this week. Gee, I'm almost out of coffee, TP and paper towels! Yipes! I'd better get on the stick and quit lolly gaggin around here!

Also one of our friendly Coupon websites has graciously allowed a download of her coupon savings tracker for 2012. It tracks what you spend, what you save, how much you have left to spend in your budget....it's an awesome spreadsheet for those of you who have Window Excel....which I don't. If you are interested in downloading the spread sheet (with complete instructions for using it), go to Happymoneysaver.com and go to the Free Download Tab, and click on the Coupon Savings Tracker. It's an awesome tool IF you have excel.

Okay, I'm awaiting sales ads for groceries. I hope you all have a successful week of being a Savvymoneysaver! God Bless..Rg

Happy New Year 1/1/12

I've been online printing new coupons from Smartsource.com, redplum.com, coupons.com, and Target.com...just to name a few. Target has some really good ones that we can match up with the MFG. ones we just received out of the inserts in the paper. Print them before they are gone. We have a ton that expired yesterday, so replacements are needed.

Looking at the drug store ads, looks like we can do a little shopping this week and score some decent deals. I will let you know when I do any of them, whether they work or not.

Okay, here is to a profitable coupon year! Don't forget to share your overages with those less fortunate. Let's pay some of this forward into the New Year!

God Bless and best wishes....Rhonda Goff
